Kaitlyn Karns

Kaitlyn Karns (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist, vocalist, arts-administrator, educator and published researcher. Kaitlyn is the Undergraduate-Graduate Secretary in the School of Creative Arts at the University of Windsor and the Executive Director of the Ford City Business Improvement Association. She holds a Masters of Education and a Bachelor (Honours) degree in Drama in Education & Community from the University of Windsor. Her research focuses on student retention and transitions within higher education and study of the creative arts as a result of institutional influencers and it has allowed her to travel across the province and into the United States to present at educational research conferences. Kaitlyn has the pleasure of working with community groups and small businesses within the local creative arts community to help with grant writing, program management and other production purposes. Kaitlyn has been an active member of the Windsor music and theatre communities for over 15 years. She has been a successful recipient of many local, provincial and national grants including the City of Windsor's ACHF, the Ontario Arts Council, the Ontario Trillium Fund and 2022 received the Individual Artist Mayor's Arts Award. From serving as a juror for the City of Windsor’s Arts Culture & Heritage Fund grant, to participating in the Ontario Arts Council’s strategic planning process, Kaitlyn is passionate about local and regional arts and research.
