Guracha Clem Marshall

Dr. Guracha Clem Marshall holds a PhD (Summa Cum Laude) in Media & Communications from the European Graduate School in Saas-Fée, Switzerland, an M.A. in Adult Education and Community Development from the University of Toronto and Licence ès Lettres (Mention Très Bien) from the Sorbonne. At Atkinson College, York University he was a member of the founding faculty of its Anti-racist Certificate Program, has also taught at Mount Saint Vincent University and most recently in the Curriculum Department at OISE/UT.

In the nineties, the Ontario Ministry of Education contracted Dr. Marshall to design and deliver anti-racist training, over a three-year period, to all members of the department. In addition, he has provided training and on-site coaching for independent schools and schoolboards in Ontario and Nova Scotia as well as in seven cities across the USA.

Dr. Marshall’s book, Talking Cheddo: Liberating PanAfrikanism, offers readers a detailed linguistic analysis of some key “Wounding Words”, sounds which have been historically mobilized to disarm or degrade Black populations. By way of repair, his documentary, All Eyes on Africa, rewards viewers with enduring delights drawn from Afrikan art. At the same time, it seizes the opportunity to intentionally centre Black culture within a global, timeless and affirmative frame.
