CLEW Workshop Series
The Centre for Teaching and Learning provides individual consultations and group workshops about the use of the University’s learning management systems, CLEW (Collaboration and Learning Environment Windsor). Faculty, sessional instructors, staff, and GAs are welcome to register for any of the CLEW workshops offered or a pre-scheduled, one-on-one personal consultations.
Some dates and times of workshops are subject to change based on user needs so check back frequently.
Tailored workshops for departments or groups of colleagues are available upon request.

For example, you may create a module, unit, chapter, or lecture, for each week. A large majority of instructors organize their modules in weeks, adding lecture notes, activities, links, and resources that relate to that week's topic as 'sections' of the week's module. This allows them to guide learners through the sequence of content/tasks in an organized manner.
A module consists of one module page AND one or more content sections, depending on how you want to organize your information. Module pages are like the title page of a document -- on a module page you assign a title, add a description and keywords, if desired, and set the open and close dates the module is available.

Interactivity can be enhanced in CLEW by using the Polls, Forums
and Wiki tools.
Students or site participants can cast votes and then see the results statistically using the Polls tool.
Forums is a "group-friendly" tool for establishing conversations for your entire CLEW site or for members of a specific sub-section of your class. Forums allow replies to an original posting or a response to other participants' messages. If they wish to, instructors can then grade the responses and post into the Gradebook tool.
A Wiki is a tool for people with limited technical knowledge to change and create web pages. Wiki was designed specifically for researchers and lecturers to collaborate on documents, share information and create teaching materials.

with CLEW or have attended a CLEW Basics class, will introduce you
to three useful tools in CLEW to assist with tests and
grading.
Online quizzes can be made available to students using your CLEW site by setting up a quiz ahead of time (with assistance of the CLEW Administrative staff) and then using the Quizzes & Tests tool to administer. Multiple-choice questions can be randomized using this tool, so even if students are seated beside each other, they won't get questions in the same order.
Feedback is a tool that enables instructors to upload grades or feedback using a .csv file format (maintained through a spreadsheet program such as MS Excel) so that students see only their own grade or feedback.
Gradebook is a tool that calculates, stores, and presents grades so that students see only their own grades or the feedback that you may wish to

and Wiki tools.
This workshop is designed for instructors who have attended a CLEW Basics class, or have already been using CLEW for their courses.

Students or site participants can cast votes and then see the results statistically using the Polls tool.
Forums is a "group-friendly" tool for establishing conversations for your entire CLEW site or for members of a specific sub-section of your class. Forums allow replies to an original posting or a response to other participants' messages. If they wish to, instructors can then grade the responses and post into the Gradebook tool.
A Wiki is a tool for people with limited technical knowledge to change and create web pages. Wiki was designed specifically for researchers and lecturers to collaborate on documents, share information and create teaching materials.
Topics covered in this workshop include:
• discussing effective interaction in classes,
• creating a poll,
• viewing the results of the poll,
• creating a Forum and embedding a Topic within the Forum,
• reviewing some options available in Forums,
• posting a reply to the Topic in the Forum,

instructors and students. By using the Assignments and Drop Box
tools students can transfer materials to instructors for formal
assessment purposes or as non-graded items. This workshop is designed for instructors who have attended CLEW Basics or are experienced with CLEW.

• creating an assignment,
• viewing the assignment as a student,
• completing an assignment as a student,
• grading the assignment as an instructor,
• reviewing other options available within the Assignments tool,

Interactivity can be enhanced in CLEW by using the Polls, Forums
and Wiki tools.
This workshop is designed for instructors who have attended a CLEW Basics class, or have already been using CLEW for their courses.
This workshop is designed for instructors who have attended a CLEW Basics class, or have already been using CLEW for their courses.
Students or site participants can cast votes and then see the results statistically using the Polls tool.
Forums is a "group-friendly" tool for establishing conversations for your entire CLEW site or for members of a specific sub-section of your class. Forums allow replies to an original posting or a response to other participants' messages. If they wish to, instructors can then grade the responses and post into the Gradebook tool.
A Wiki is a tool for people with limited technical knowledge to change and create web pages. Wiki was designed specifically for researchers and lecturers to collaborate on documents, share information and create teaching materials.
Topics covered in this workshop include:
• discussing effective interaction in classes,
• creating a poll,
• viewing the results of the poll,
• creating a Forum and embedding a Topic within the Forum,
• reviewing some options available in Forums,
• posting a reply to the Topic in the Forum,
• creating a Wiki page which includes a heading, list, table and links, and
• viewing your efforts as a student.

This workshop will introduce you to three useful tools in CLEW to assist with tests and grading.
Online quizzes can be made available to students using your CLEW site by setting up a quiz ahead of time (with assistance of the CLEW Administrative staff) and then using the Quizzes & Tests tool to administer. Multiple-choice questions can be randomized using this tool, so even if students are seated beside each other, they won't get questions in the same order.
Feedback is a tool that enables instructors to upload grades or feedback using a .csv file format (maintained through a spreadsheet program such as MS Excel) so that students see only their own grade or feedback.
Gradebook is a tool that calculates, stores, and presents grades so that students see only their own grades or the feedback that you may wish to communicate to them.
After completing this workshop, you will be able to:• prepare a file to upload to the CLEW Administration team for a quiz
• prepare a basic Gradebook course set-up and,
• prepare and upload a spreadsheet for display in the Feedback tool.

Interactivity can be enhanced in CLEW by using the Polls, Forums and Wiki tools.
This workshop is designed for instructors who have had CLEW Basics, or have already been using CLEW for their courses.
Students or site participants can cast votes and then see the results statistically using the Polls tool. Forums is a "group-friendly" tool for establishing conversations for your entire CLEW site or for members of a specific sub-section of your class.
