Welcome to the University of Windsor’s Blackboard Learn learning management system application.
Please review the information in this guide to help familiarise yourself with the Blackboard LearnTM system and its many features.
The University of Windsor has a series of online help articles, FAQ’a, and links to Blackboard’s documentation found at http://www.uwindsor.ca/blackboard.
Blackboard’s self-help pages are located at help.blackboard.com. Here you can find support organized by user types: Administrator, Instructor and Student, in the form of articles, videos and tutorials covering all types of topics and help that users may need.
When visiting the site, be sure to select the correct Blackboard release that you are working on. Learn: Original Experience
UWindsor’s Blackboard current version information can be found at the bottom of the login page (http://blackboard.uwindsor.ca).
Please navigate to http://blackboard.uwindsor.ca to access the login page (above). Use your UWin ID and password to log in. If you don’t have a UWin ID, please contact Help Desk at ext. 4440. You will need a UWin employee number first, which is issued by Human Resources at ext. 2047.
After your first login, you will be taken to the black background “Welcome Veil”. This will only appear on your first login. Select Close to exit screen.
On the top-right corner of every Blackboard screen, you will see the Global Navigation menu. Your UWin ID you logged in with will determine which courses you will have access to and which role is associated with those courses orOrganization sites.
- Blackboard Home – Provides overview of where you are in your course – basically a shortcut to course activity and a synopsis of: Due Today/This week; Recently Graded; Posts. Similar to a course Homepage
- Discussion Posts -Displays posts made in the last seven days
- Updates - shows what is new since last login
- Grade Centre - for students to see “My Grades”. Where assignments, tests or other course activities with grades are displayed
- Retention Centre - for Facilitators and is a good touch point for monitoring student activity.
- Calendar -link to course calendar that shows all activities in courses and due dates. Can also display Institutional Notices
– Bottom of menu includes links to Organizations, Tools, and Settings for users to adjust their preferences for notifications.
