Linda Coltman

Linda Coltman is a graduate student in the FAHSS. She is in the process of completing a M.A. in political science alongside a University Teaching Certificate with the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL). In Fall 2020 she will be commencing graduate studies in sociology - a course based M.A. with the intention of completing a PhD in sociology/social justice afterwards. Linda has served 4 terms as a GA and prior to that an undergraduate term as a TA at the University of Windsor (within the departments of political science and philosophy, respectively) and expects to further serve as a GA in the department of sociology while she pursues her studies graduate studies there. Through her lived experience as both a GA and TA, as well as her UTC experience, she has spent many hours grading student work and struggling to find a means of providing effective feedback that will enhance the experiences of the students she’s served as GA/TA for. Outside of her UofW role, Linda serves in leadership in the social services sector (primarily affordable housing/homelessness and poverty reduction considerations) and thus factors of equity and diversity and how to minimize the impacts of stigma and marginalization are key components of importance in what she is developing as her teaching philosophy guiding her educational role
