Ann Marie Proulx-White

Bii-Waubin Kwe – YaWatati (Spirit Name)

Ann Marie’s ancestors are from the Ojibwe and Oneida Nation, she belongs to the Thunderbird Clan, on her father’s Ojibwe side and she also belongs to the Turtle clan on her mother’s Oneida side. Her spirit’s name means "The light in the sky before the sunrises".

Ann Marie is a well-known champion Indigenous pow wow dancer. She is known for her Old-Style Fancy Shawl style & Old-style Jingle Dress Dancing. She started dancing at the age of 7 years old. She comes from a well-grounded Indigenous traditional family, her upbringing included participating in Indigenous ceremonies to cultural practices, Elder’s gatherings and pow wow celebrations. Pow wow has become a way of life for Ann Marie.
