Getting Tired of Too Many Course Sites to Look Through?
We have had a full year of using Blackboard, and if you are connected to many sites, your interface may be looking a little “bloated” these days. You can change the view and order of which sites appear on your Courses tab, and also on your Home tab. This short video (4:21) details how. Please note, you have to change and update both of the locations (Home and Courses).
Want to Merge Multiple Sections into One Site?
Automation of course site generation is one of the benefits of using Blackboard Learn. Sometimes, when instructors are teaching multiple sections of the same course, it is more convenient to have all of those sites merged into one main site. To have this done, log in and submit a Service Request at http://www.uwindsor.ca/bbhelp. Please specify which site (Course Code and Title) you wish to be the primary site, and list all of the full course codes that you want to be merged into that site. Note: if you have placed materials into any of the secondary sections you wish to be merged, you will lose them, therefore, be sure to move materials into the primary site ahead of the merge request.
Need to Import Last Semester’s Content into your W2017 Course Shell?
Sometimes instructors want to copy over material from a previous Blackboard course into a new course shell. This can be done easily using the Packages and Utilities options found under the Control Panel in the left menu of a course site. Blackboard has online articles detailing the process of Exporting a Course from the past semester followed by Importing a Package into the new semester course site. There is also a short video (7:54) also on how to Export / Import from Blackboard at UWindsor if you prefer watching how to do it. Further in the video, there is a brief discussion on Importing from CLEW in case you needed material from previous years into your W2017 site.
Need to Upload Scantron Results?
Remember the frustrating days of manually entering scantron test results? No need to do that anymore with the Import to Grade Centretool found in the Course Tools area. You will need to have the scantron test results file emailed to you from ITS in .txt format to complete the process. (Note – the .pdf file won’t work in this tool!) If students have completed all of their information correctly on the scantron test forms, this can be about a 10-minute job to ensure grades are uploaded seamlessly! More on how to use this tool in the Import to Grade Centre wiki article.
