Mikayla Bornais

Mikayla Bornais is a 4th year student in the Concurrent Education and Science Program at the University of Windsor. She has participated in three Study Abroad, studying ecohydrology at the Soltis Centre in the rainforest of Costa Rica as well as RipTides on the Beaches of Costa Rica. Mikayla also participated in a Study Abroad to Scotland where she studied Forensics at the University of Strathclyde. Through her study abroad opportunity in Costa Rica she participated in Community Service Learning, teaching local students about water conservation and the role and importance of the rainforest as an ecosystem. Following her second study abroad to Costa Rica Mikayla collaborated with Dr. Houser to write a paper on Student perceptions on the benefits and barriers to study abroad. She has been an active member of the Mennill lab, participating in undergraduate research at the University of Windsor and the National Conservation Area in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. She has recently been received the Going Above and Beyond in Research Award due to her dedication to research at a national and international level
